Sex and Love Addiction for Women

 

Many women would never call themselves a sex or love addict; however, they find that they are unable to have satisfying long term intimate relationships in spite of numerous attempts. Some find that they have intentionally decided to stop hoping for intimacy and simply see the involvement as short term and/or sexual from the beginning.

Some of the symptoms of Sex or Love Addiction are:
  • Poor emotional and physical boundaries; getting involved with others emotionally or sexually before knowing them
  • Returning to painful, destructive relationships to avoid loneliness
  • Serial sexual or emotional relationships, or even overlapping relationships with no chance for healing in between
  • Chronic feelings of emptiness or fear of being alone; constant searching for intimate relationships
  • Confusion of love with neediness, romantic intensity or sexual/physical attraction
  • Frequently rescuing others or feeling victimized by others
  • Using sex or emotional dependence as a substitute for healthy nurturance and support*
