Overview
When your family is going through a difficult time, whether it’s divorce or separation, we know that one of your biggest concerns is the well-being of your child(ren). That’s why we offer counseling services geared just for kids and teens that provide them with age-appropriate professional support to not only survive, but thrive, during this difficult transition.
Kids have on-going questions, and often times they are afraid to ask, or discuss their thoughts and feelings with their parents. They are extremely observant and may stuff their own feelings in order to avoid uncomfortable conversations.
Facing Difficult Subjects
Through counseling, we provide a safe place for you and your child(ren) to face difficult subjects, including:
- Why is this happening?
- Will my parents get back together?
- Is it my fault?
- What will our family look like now?
Learning to Process
Using therapy styles that are proven to minimize the long- and short-term effects of divorce on a child, we teach children to communicate and process their feelings in a healthy way.
During our time with your child, we may process what it’s like to:
- Adjust to two homes
- Manage a new schedule
- Experience grief and loss
- Share anger, worry and anxiety
- Live with step-parents/step-siblings
- Create a new concept of family
